Question for factory navigation users

Could you let me know what features can be used while vehicle is in motion? I am comparing aftermarket nav systems to factory and would like to hear any thoughts about the factory system, before I make the purchase. I am referring to an 07 year model if that makes a difference.

Thanks

for less money, you can get a laptop stand and run Microsoft streets&trips on your computer. Screen is about 3x larger than builtin gps...see it in the window! Good luck.

Thanks, I am looking at all options at this point, and was hoping that someone with factory set up could advise.

I think factory Nav's do not allow you to enter your destination while moving..
I have an aftermarket and can as long as certain wires are hooked up correctly, but I believe thats how the factory ones work.

I am in the same situation. I want Navigation, and I am debating on the Factory or a complete Aftermarkek system such as the Pioneer AVIC or Kenwood.

Does anyone know if the Factory Nav will allow the use of a back up camera?

This is a must for me.

Thanks,

MC

The factory nav setup in my '07 F-150 does not allow me to enter addresses while the vehicle is moving. I do not have a back up camera and am not sure if the system can accommodate it. If I had to do it over again, I'd buy an aftermarket system for sure.

I will buy yours and you can purchase an aftermarket unit.

Talking

Love the Brandmotion unit. No problems with the vehicle in motion.I always get a laugh when the female voice says"When it's safe, perform a LEGAL u-turn".
You can purchase the unit on E-bay for as low as $350.00.

yes.....that is what i use ...it cost me 75$ at staples and if you already have a laptop it is an awesome system. you can re configure your route from wherever you are by pushing 1 button. it keeps your location centered on the map and will repeat your direction just by hitting the space bar. it tells you where everything from marinas to gas stations to chinese restaurants are around you. ive used the garmin touch screen unit and it took me to three bait shops that had already been shut down or moved. the microsoft unit gets updated on the internet for even the most up to date traffic. lots of positive features if you have a laptop already
