window channels

I am doing away with my little wing windows. What do you guys suggest to use for a window channel? I would like to go with power windows but thats not a must. I just want the larger window but not too sure what channel to buy. I figured it be easier to ask rather that spending money to expieriment.

Just use the original channel. It doesn't matter if the glass hangs over a little on each end...

Vern, doesn't that leave a lot of area for air leaks and the whistleing that comes with them? Jag

Air leaks? I'm thinking the window channel is the piece that the glass is glued in and moves up and down with the regulator. Are we talking about that or the stuff that goes in the door around the top and sides of the glass? Maybe my parts terminology is off....

He's talking the fuzzies, I think. You will have to buy new ones that are made for the absence of the vent windows. Any aftermarket company that sells door seals will carry them and I think most glass companies do too. Don't forget you also have to have new glass cut and you can't use the original window mechanism. BTDT!

i think he means what is known as simply window rubber and or the anti rattlers
which are the strips at the bottom edge of the window on the door

I think there are window kits available for one door glass that have the correct channel. You may also want to look at getting anti-rattle kits for your window as well.

On every truck I've ever seen, those are fuzzy too. They will also have to be changed because they'll be too short.

Mid-Fifty has one-piece window kits where you have to form the fuzzy which goes on top and both ends of the glass whereas Vintage Ford's are already formed.

If we're talking about fuzzies, the one-piece kit from Vintage Glass comes with some you cut to fit and then you GLUE them in. The don't work worth a hoot! I gave up trying to keep mine in so the glass just rattles...may look at some for stock glass even if they are too short. This has been a major disappointment in the one-piece installation. If you go with a kit I'd try someone elses...

I did the one piece curved glass kit from Midfifty. It comes with new window channel felts, and also the anti-rattle strips, with metal clips to clip into the normal retainer holes. See my gallery for the install pics. (not the anti-rattle, as you have to hammer the ends flat..(once)..

Does anyone know where I could get the fuzzies that clip into the original retainer holes for a 48-50 one-piece glass? Of not, where can get the stock fuzzies for the original glass?

Thanks every one. I see I was a lil vague on what I was talking about. When I said the window channel...I meant the actuall channel that runs up the sides of the window. On factory the one side is in the door and the other is in the window/wing window divider. I'm just not too sure what to use to make the new channel where the wing window used to be. A few mentioned a kit for this so I'll check them out. Thanks again

I can't tell what year your are talking about..

on the 53-55 one piece kit I installed, there is a new channel section for the vent window area. You can see this being installed in my gallery.
