Im going to be installing my aftermarket water temp guage tonight. I was just wondering if any of you guys are running a water temp guage and where you have installed the probe?. I dont want to remove the stock probe...so i was told i could drill and tap another hole in the block or i could buy some pipe that i can screw the probe into and install it inline with my rad hose or heater core hose?. I just want to know what you guys think. Thanks
ive also been looking at this heater hose adapter from autometer because it seems the easier way to go. would i get the same reading going from the heater hose as i would going from the block...or does it even matter?
The port I have used for temp gauge on both my trucks is the one on the WP that Cookie is talking about. its on the driverside right under the thermostat/upper rad hose. I think its 3/8 pipe thread.
There's a temp sensor bung in the thermostat neck. It has a plug in it from the factory. Just remove the plug and install your sensor. Hook it up and your ready to rock. Good luck
i cant seem to find this port. i was wondering if you knew what side of the pump it is on? Thanks.
Standing in front of the drivers side headlight....look down at the side of the WP from that angle. You should see a small (3/8 npt) square head plug in the side of the pump.
