When they tested it and said all was OK, was the battery light on or off at that time?
The light was still on.
At first I got the idea the guy didn't know what he was doing.
My wife drove it to work this morning. By the time she got to work the gage was almost to the low line. Looks like I'll be changing the alternator in the parking lot when I get out of work.
If you can charge up the battery, even a little bit, with no acc. on, you should make it home. Make sure the belt is in good shape and not slipping. Try to buy a GOOD alternator, not the cheapest. The cheapos work, but some whine so bad under load, it will drive you nuts. When you are done, with the engine at idle, put a simple volt meter across the battery terminals, should have 13-14 volts. Good luck, they are not hard to do, I find coming from the top with a 1/2 ratchet and socket is the easiest way to get tension off the belt, you may find another way is easier. Good luck... keep us posted
