Check Engine Light
My 94 EB 5.8L has the check engine light coming on. If I let the truck idle for awhile the or rev the engine the light stays off, but once I start driving within 30 seconds the light comes on. I had the codes pulled and two came up: Code 311 Thermactot Air system Inoperative and Code 332 EGR flow. I took the EGR unit apart and all seems okay. The steel tube is clear and the plunger mechinism works fine.
Any suggestions on this problem?

Pull the vac line off the egr and plug the line, See if it quits the fits. Look inside it when you pull the line off with it running, Did the shaft move inside there? If the solenoid is leaking and opening the valve at the wrong time it will throw a code.

It seems to me that the shaft does not move when connected. If I push up on the diaphragm the idle will drop. I know the tube isn't clogged, and when I disconnect the vacuum line going to the solenoid there doesn't seem to be any vacuum.
