it can be made with some plugs available at hardware stores or plumbing supply and regualted air or water supply
if leaving radiator and heater in the loop be sure not to over pressurize

I built one years ago...pretty easy to build. You will need:

1 - a hand pump OR a pressure hose fitting
2 - a check valve
3 - a pressure gauge w/ T-fitting to line
4 - a sacrificial radiator cap (you will have to drill a hole through the top to accept the check valve)
5 - a clamp to clamp off the line to the degas reservoir

So in order from air in to radiator it would go like this:

fitting or pump > check valve > gauge > radiator cap...

There are so many variations of parts that you could buy, but all of these need to be put together in the order above.

Then you just clamp the line to the degas, attach the home-made pressure tester, and pressurize the coolant system. I have to admit, that I had everything I needed when I built mine...zero cost. Here is a link to one you can buy

yeah im trying to narrow down my search ... a while ago i started getting smoke out the exhaust and well first thought was my turbo ...so i rebuilt it ...didnt work ...bought a new turbo still not the problem ... did a compression test ...that passed ... and well i did notice a bit of water missing out of the coolant degas bottle so im wondering if it could be a bad fuel cup or injector o-rings ... so im trying to narrow my search down but its kinda getting to me seeing as i havent ben able to drive the truck for a few months now and i diff dont want to go back to the dealer. They told me i need a new engine ... lucky i had a friend that works for that dealer and he told me the guy that checked out my truck didnt really do any tests just parked it in his bay... let it run looked at the exhaust and signed it off as needing a new engine.

When my sleeve was leaking I had diesel floating on top of the coolant in the degas bottle. no smoke, and the engine ran fine. The fuel pressure is much higher than the cooling system, so you won't lose coolant through a cracked sleeve.

well see thats the thing the truck seems to me to run fine its just i get alot of smoke and some how or another i have what looks to be an oily substance coming out of the tail pipe aswell so it could either be a mixture of oil and fuel or colant and oil ... so jus to make sure i dont have a cracked cup i want to pressurzie the system and then move on to replacing all the o-rings ... im at loss with my problem im sure it cant be something that can be fixed its just my luck i have to go through alot of steps to figure it out.

I have only used the proper tool (we have one at work), but my bet is you'll get that to work. If you have a sacrificial rad cap w that valve and good bike pump I se no problem. I'm a mountain biker and those pumps with the gauge on them are not cheap though. Find someone into biking and borrow theirs, or if you have a compressor that you can set the psi or only let it run until you get 15lbs. just my .02
