Grinding 360 crank 40 under
My 352 spun a bearing and I decided to rebiuld the engine taking it to a 360. The journal on the crank that spun a bearing can not be cleaned up unless it is ground .040 undersize I told them to do it since I don't have the money for another crank is it going to weaken the crank or anything? Thanks eric

No, the only down side is that if you want to use that same crank 10 years from now, in another rebuild, it might not work. As for running 40 under, don't worry about it. Some do that just to lower the bearing speed and say they gain extra HP that way.

I am going to have a little talk with the machine shop they said i can get bearings in .040 oversize but the auto parts places I called said no one makes it and I need a new crank. Eric

Thanks I just talked to the machine shop and I had them order me a set. I called a couple of auto parts places and they said they don't make them bigger than 030
