Hey I just bought my truck and the guy that I bought it off of said the spark plugs need changed........He said he did the cap, rotor, and wires about a year ago, but the plugs havent been changed in about "5" years. The truck runs aright now but I can tell they need changed when I accel hard.
Oh my god, I had rusty spark plugs from the previous owner of this truck, they were horrible.
They worked but they were bleh.
I got new sparkplugs. Considering how many people say autolights suck, ANYTHING was better then the sparks in the truck. It runs like a dream on the autolights. No bumping anymore, able to run at a lower rpm........Basically what im telling you is. Anything is better then the sparkplugs you have in there now lol. Go for some new ones at wal-mart (autolight)
If this was a rotary engine, I would suggest NGK sparkplugs, and everything like that. The Inline 6 on the other hand, is a tough motor and runs good on pretty much anything you throw at it. It's not picky and that's what I love about it. lol If I threw autolights on my old rotary, I would end up on the side of the road with chizzled up internals.

I know when we had our Corvette we had to gap them. The Vette had a heavily modded engine though. Do I have to gap the ones going in the truck? If so what should I gap them too?
Check the gaps with a gap gage, like a dollar at auto zone. If the new plugs aren't at .044", then adjust as necessary. They should be pretty close to this out of the box, but you can't ever be sure.
