390 timing
Edel RPM intake
Edel 750 Carb
Crower Power Beast Cam
Dynomax headers.
I've got the beast running and past the break in. However, it doesn't seem to like the vacuum advance. It runs better without the vacuum hooked to the distributor. I've hooked it to the same port that was attached to the intake manifold before. I've got the idle screw cranked in slightly (probably idling too high). I'm able to advance the distributor and get a smooth idle. Is that too far, considering I have a reasonably big cam?
Grind Lobe Center :292H/112D
Advertised Duration (Intake): 292, (Exhaust) : 302

Any timing suggestions appreciated. I'm going to clean the "balancer?? (part with the timing numbers on it)" to see if I can read the timimg and see where I'm currently at.

It would also be difficult to start.
The usual settings are in the +8 to 12 degrees advance at idle with anywhere from +27 to 32 degree with the curve.
That is all without the vacuum hooked up.
With that cam the engine should easily idle below 700 rpm.
Maybe a vacuum leak somewhere?
