I have hte airraid cold air intake and after reading all of the wonderful posts on oiled/open element type filter I am wanting to switch to an afe setup. Does anyone have the measurements for an afe replacment filter for a stage 1 intake. It looks very simialr to my airraid and thought I might be able to just switch filters without buying a whole new intake. Like I said cheating. Thanx
I have an AFE but not sure if it is a stage I. I believe so. Check the link in my sig. If you need I will get the measurements if it looks like what you need. PM me if you want since I am not always in this forum.
Wasn't the AFE the one that was beaten by the 6637 on the dyno in one of the "infamous" threads?? I was thinking it was that one compared to the 6637 where the guy said if the AFE beat the 6637 he'd buy it, and it didn't. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was the one. And I really don't feel like hunting it down...
I wasn't trying to be a hard-@$$... Hope you didn't take it that way. But if you're going through all that, you might at least take a look at the 6637. If you don't like it, I'm sure someone here would buy it. Heck, I would...
is there anything wrong with not doing the CCV mode and putting on the 6637 filter? i do not have the stuff to do the CCV mod right now. but would like to put the 6637 filter on that iv had sitting around for ever..
Not at all -- give it a shot, but make sure the tube between the filter & CCV coupler is clean. Any oil that happens to get up by the filter neck will make it slippery. It's much less of an issue if you put the 4" exhaust pipe between the two, but if you want to stick the 6637 right on the stock tube, it has to be clean.
Izzy, I believe that was Cowboy Steve/Powerstroked 162 that started that thread or war or whatever you would like to call it. I believe you are on about the scenario.
EDIT - I forgot. Maybe he is not looking to get the intake sounds that you get with the 6637. That is why he is going to an open element in a box. Maybe???
