I have a 64 f-100 parts truck. So far I have completely stripped the front clip, all interior parts and removed the cab. Only thing left is the crummy step side bed and the frame and axels. I have though about chopping the frame in half and making a trailer out of it to make some of my money back but I have also thought it would be handy to keep for a frame off resto. I could take this frame and have it sand blasted and then as I get the body work done on my other truck I could transfer it over to the like new frame. What would you do?
Was planning on sending the front axel off to be stretched also. Since I have a spair now.
My 2 cents. I would set the frame up somewhere, since it don't take much room or even sandblast and get it ready. As for the bed it kinda sounds like you do not desire a flareside. If it is decent shape you could sell it and make some money back. Should not have a hard time since it was used on so many year models. I hate to tear up straight frames
You didn't mention what year the other truck was you are building. if it's pre 65 then you have a good idea, if it's a 65 or 66 then you will have a host of issues transfering to 64 frame. the 65 and 66 trucks are much easier to upgrade if you're gonna go that route. my 2 cents. Dutch
This parts truck I'm referring to is a 1964 and my truck I'm fixing up is a 64 also. Hindsite it 20/20. If I had known I would have probably went with a 65/66. Same great style with easier upgrades. I have a 65 parts(too bad its a long bed) truck that I will be bringing home when I get this 64 out of the way. Wife is happy I'm moving the 64 but won't be so happy when I just replace it with another, lol. It has a 352 that I would like to tinker with and see if it runs.
I personally like the long beds, that probably makes me a little weird. But everyone to there own. You say you have an extra 65 parts truck. You would'nt have an extra passenger side vent window assembly?

Weird?? not hardly. The longbeds when done right gives you a beautiful long and sleaker look. I am very partial to longbeds view my galleries and you'll know what I mean.
I see what you mean, they look really good. I will have to get a gallery going. Mine is more based on a stock restoration with the obvious additions. Such as power steering, disc brakes, AC, etc. However it retains the original two tone paint scheme. I am also partial to the Inline 6. It is a factory automatic 6 cyl. Truck.
Hey gangstakr, you have exactly wheels and tires look that I want for my 65. What brand and size are they?
In one of my galleries I listed what was done when my truck was actually red. Anyway on the front I have 17" Cragers 8" wrapped in 235/45/17 BF Goodrich on the back I have 17" Cragers 10" wrapped in 285/40/17 BF Goodrich.
Thank you.
Sorry for highjacking this thread

Hey Garbz, Since reading your post I've been sitting outside by the mailbox. Waiting and waiting for the mailperson. When I finally saw the mail truck I was as excited as a kid waiting for the ice cream truck. And then it arrived.
I'm speachless. Thanks for the heads up.
