2005 Explorer Transmission shifting issue - NEED HELP
Hello All
I'm having an unusual sympton w/my 2005 Explorer. It's a 6cyl, auto, 61k miles. It shifts normally during casual acceleration. If I accelerate a little more briskly, it does fine from 1st to 2nd. However, from 2nd to 3rd it revs all the way up to nearly 4500 rpm before upshifting.
Any ideas what may be causing this?

shifting problems
I have a 2000 Exploder 4X4 with 4.0 SOHC a 5 sp auto. I have the same symptoms and believe it to be the issue with the separator plate valve body gasket. See article on this site "Articles .: Transmission / Axle .: Common Fix For 4r55e / 5r55e Transmissions With A Bad Separator Plate And Valve Body Gasket. Details what needs to be done to the trans.
Also, good idea to obtain TSB's from dealer to see what they have done in the way of updates.
