I think the duraspark distributor for the 400 and 460 are the same thing. Although...i'm not totally sure but i think the shaft for the 460 is something like .530 and the one for the 400 is closer to .500. That really only matters if you're going to change the distributor gear though.
The reason I am asking is I would like to put EFI on a 400 and I thought that if the 460 dist would work I could find me a late model 460 and steal the EFI parts off of it.
The 351C, 351M, 400, 429, and 460 all use the same distributor. You can use a 460 TFI dist in a 400, or you can use a 351W TFI dist and change the cam gear. There is also a remote TFI unit that was used on some EFI 460s. You can use that setup with your 400 dist after some modification.
I bought a new Procomp TFI dist for a 351W and changed the gear. MSD also makes a TFI dist for a 351W for more $$$.
I have done an EFI conversion on a 400. It worked out well, but I spent a lot on it. I am glad that I did it the way I did, because it works so well. There are other ways to do it, and the syatem offered by Mass-Air looks easier to implement than my setup.
