I just installed the AVIC-D3 into a car this weekend along with the CD-BTB200 Bluetooth Module.. Lets just say I'm not impressed..
- The screen is slightly smaller (no biggie)..
- Can't listen to cd's while in nav but you can manage the IPod or Radio..
- GPS is ok to an extent, it takes too damn long however to know I missed the turn before it bothers doing anything.. My Garmin will immediately tell my stupid self that I missed the turn and auto redirect..
- The bluetooth is horrible, absolutely horrible.. The thing will pair with the Apple IPhone, however it wont transfer the phone book.. It will also connect with my Palm Treo 750 however, once again it will not transfer the phone book.. Anytime you go to transfer it, bluetooth turns off.. Now I know the Iphone prob not due to it being brand new, but the Palm Treo line has been around for awhile, I should be able to transfer my phone book.
- Also the Mp3 CD display sucks.. I have the AVH-P6800DVD in my F250.. I can surf folders whenever I want and it's FAST.. The D3, you move out of one folder into another folder, it automatically starts the first song in the folder.. Say your listening to Ice Ice Baby and you wanna bust out MC Hammer after.. But its in another folder.. So you think, ok its got bout 45 seconds, enough time for me to go to the other folder and select it when its time right? Wrong! Once you move to that new folder, it stops..
So all in all.. I paid over $1500 for all of it and install.. I'm not impressed.. It didn't even go in my freaking truck... It was a present for a family member..
I haven't experienced any of those problemw with my AVIC-D3. I don't listen to CD's, since I have an iPod. And the bluetooth adapter works flawlessly with my Motorola Razor. It's been a good unit so far, for me at least.
sorry. i have the eclipse avn-5510, and i am completely satisfied. two disc drives...onbe for nav disc and dvds, and the other for cds/mp3s. gps is pretty good, with a 3-route option before you begin.

Maybe I got a bug unit then.. I knew the IPhone was going to be difficult because of its newness and features.. But of all the phones I figured my Treo 750 would at least work perfectly.. It doesn't..
Its not in my truck, nor a car I ever drive.. It was a present but it disappoints me that its not what I expected.. I would have felt better spending the money on the Z1 or Z2.. But I was told by the stereo shop that the D3 out performs the Z1... Now I'm wondering..
I did have problems transfering my phonebook......kinda. I could only transfer one contact at a time, so it was a pain in the butt. However, that limitation was from my phone, not the Pioneer unit. The phone's software simply wouldn't let me transfer the whole phonebook at a time. I checked the phone's manual to see if I was doing it wrong. It's simply not an option with the Razor.
Thats understandable.. I guess I shouldnt be too worried.. It works and the family member loves it.. Just a lot money to throw down and not get what you expected to receive.. I figured it'd move the same speed as mine, especially when searching music and such..
Storm, what service do you have with the Treo? I know Verizon tends to be retarded and turn features like synching your phone book over bluetooth off. I can't get my Q to do it with my Kenwood unit either.
