I have a die on idle 80 F150. But that is not my immediate problem. I pulled the EGR valve so many times I lost count, but after the last time, I noticed a hissing and soon after, the brake light came on and brakes are very weak.
So I take a look and underneath the EGR valve on my 351 engine is a metal vacuum fitting. One hose goes to brake, one to AC, another to air cleaner, and one has nothing on it, no cap no hose. It is pointing at driver. I can't locate a loose hose.
I can't decipher the vacuum routing diagram hieroglyphics under the hood, if anyone can point me to the meaning of all the acronyms, that might be helpful, but also if anyone knows what is supposed to be on that bare vacuum nipple, I would be grateful.
put a vacum cap on it see if anything doesn't work. Alot of times an extra vacum port on the "christmas tree" is just that an extra and the cap came off.
That would be my bet too. Heat and time probably cracked the cap and it fell off. Below is a link to an automotive dictionary that was provided by 81-F150-Explorer a while back. It will help you understand the vacuum diagram.
