> Why would a big vehicles like Expedition with poor gas mileage be in
> high demand today with $3.20 gas prices? It doesn't make any sense.
It is a nice long distance tow vehicle with 4x4 with decent MPG.
Example
With the four doors it is a lot easier to get four kids into, especially car seats, then my E-250 where they had to all pile in through the sliding door.
If you needed towing and people moving, it was an excellent choice over a Suburban.
There in depand because they are the biggest, badest suv on the planet. It's not for every body, but for those who work at IBM, have 10 kids and a 40ft camping trailor and a cabin cruiser may love to have one. There' people that need excursions just like theres people who need super duty's. I work construction and live in the country, super duty's aern't a status symbol, people work them and work them hard, even with high gas prices, they need them. I could see that with some people and an excursion.
Money talks and Bull**** walks. I once heard the same story with a paticular truck ( I won't mention what kind, it wasn't a chevy though ) the truck was one year old. I went to the bank picked up the cash went back to the dealer and went to the sales managers office walked in and told him I wanted the truck this is what I had to spend and that if he didn't want my cash someone would. Hour later I drove it home with signed papers in hand. Try it doesn't always work but sometimes it does.
Just drove by the dealer the other day and guess what? New price tag in the windshield $15995. Funny, when I offered the previous asking price of over $17 and I drive it home, they wouldn't sell it to me.

Well, now that you know they are willing to negotiate a little, perhaps it's time to go back and offer them $16 grand out the door. You could save brother a few hunded in taxes and such. This time, however, take the cash with you. As stated earlier, a check in hand looks like a serious buyer.
