I have an engine with a casting number on the block of C8ME-A, heads C8AE-H, and intake manifold C9ZE 9425B.... If anyone has any information on this engine, and wether it's worth keeping in my vehicle, please share it with me! A little history on the vehicle, it's a '57 ford f100, the guy who owned it before me started to customize it, got as far as the engine, and either ran out of money, or floundered when it came to the suspension. I could not contact him, as the titled owner of the vehicle, his landlord, took the truck as payment from him for back rent about 5 years prior, I got the truck for 400 dollars, so if the engine is junk, I won't be too bothered. It looks like it has all new gaskets, freeze plugs and a little bit of fresh RTV squirting out of some surfaces. This coupled with the fresh paint job leads me to believe that it may have been recently rebuilt, so I don't want to rip off the heads quite yet.... any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
C8ME-A Block = First Design 1968 428CJ/SCJ
C8AE-H Heads = No reference
C9ZE-B ITM = N/R My guess >Something from a 69 Mustang
My suggestion !
Keep it !

I have a C8ME-A block in my garage. It was a 360/390 with the 4.05" bore.

I have a set of C8AE-H heads. They are commonly known as "390 GT" heads, though they may have been used on other engines. They have 69 cc combustion chambers and standard (non-CJ) exhaust valves.
When dealing with FE parts/motors, in general, casting numbers are meaningless. In order to figure out what you have or are looking at, the best solution is often a dial caliper, a good reference book, and a good set of eyes.

This sounds like me a year ago. I had the same cast number on my block, and while mine turned out to be a 1968 428CJ, this number has been found on smaller displacement blocks as well. Check your stroke, as this will tell you what you have, or at least narrow it down to a 410/428. Check your flywheel to see if its externally balanced. And check the block for any other marks. Let us know what you find.
If your knuckles ain't bleeding you did something wrong.
