I was originally put off by the looks of the jumpseat over the console, but no dealer in my area had the other options I wanted in a truck with the console. But now, I've come to like it, the arm rest is comforable, the cupholders are adequately deep, and the flip-lid storage is decent. I do not like the fact that, with the jumpseat, you have no power point options in the backseat as you would have with the console. I recently was under the seat trying to install a radio mount and got a pretty good look at it...there are just four bolts that hold it in and I didn't see anything else in the way if a guy was to make the swap.
Edit---sorry, I thought you were talking about doing this in an '08.
this question has been asked before with little response. The consoles are getting cheap enough. I have used the jumpseat maybe 5 times in my truck. I'll say this, glad it was there when we needed it. I can't get the wife to sit in it because she says its just not comfortable. This is why I think I could really benefit from the storage space of the console.
Has anybody tried the '08 console in a truck with manual transmission?
I want do the jump seat to console swap in my truck, but I'm not willing to buy the console before I know if it fits or not.
If somebody does replace the jump seat with the console (manual tranny or not) please take some pictures and post a write up showing if holes need to be drilled etc.
I have the split bench in my '08. Can I remove the center seat section without removing the flip down console. I would like to make a custom console but still have the flip down for the armrest.
