Question Should Ford Pay??(Burnt Harness)

I have a 2005, F250 that had a transmission problem. This a quote from my invoice. "Check engine light was on and had 2 codes P0657 / P)748 Check electronic trans diag. Pinpoint traced harness. Found harness burnt on exhast manifold. Removed harness. Repaired 3 wires. Reroute & reinstalled harness." My question is, should not Ford pickup the bill for puting the harness in the wrong place, as well make this a recall?

If Ford (factory) did leave harness near enough exhaust manifold to cause burn damage, I would think it would have showed up sooner. If any service work was done, and harness was left in the wrong place, then I would suspect you need to discuss the matter with that service provider.

The only service has been oil change and tire rotation. The fact that he had to reroute the harness is what sticks in my mind.

Yes, by all means Ford should repair this under warranty.

If the dealer refuses, escalate to Ford customer service.

redford is right, at 68 miles over warranty Ford will foot the bill and cover it under warranty. If your dealer didnt offer to step in and get it covered automatically, they suck. They have the power to make it right and should have offered.
