can i get a quick response???

hey guys, i'm just running out to pick up my new toy, 1983 f150, 351 auto. the guy says that its steaming up with the heat on and a slisht smell of antifreeze is happening. i'm thinking heater core...any other suggestions??

Definetly sounds like the heater core. Its a quick fix, you should have no problems replacing it

awesome!! thanks BOB, i've tackled one in a T/A b4, so this one should be a breeze. should it be saft to drive about 25 miles on it the way it is??

It will be safe as long as it's not pouring on the ground or the passenger floorboard. If in doubt, bypass the heater core with a simple cut and reroute of the heater hoses.

ok, should be as simple as unhooking one hose and bridging the outlet and inlet right?

Yes. It's that simple. I've worked on many cars and trucks that have had a long term leaking core. I would probably drive it as is.
