new computer

i just had my 300 rebuilt and i put it back in my truck( 88 f150) and ended up having to replace the computer as well. when i accelerate through the gears the engine seems like it isnt all there. it kinda drags and its almost like its skipping very lightly, its hard for me to explain what it feals like, but anyways does anyone know how long it takes the new computer to program what ever the heck it has to learn and if that could just be whats up with the motor right now?

If it sat for any amount of time with less than a full tank, run a few bottles of dedicated gas line dryer through it. 2 bottles of heet and 2 bottles of iso heet, Just to get water from condensation out of the equation. it is the cheapest place to start the computer should have it pretty close in the tables to run it until it gathers the needed data (probably 50 miles or so) Water on the fuel system will manifest like the symptoms you got!! You have filled up with fresh gas right, Gas starts going bad in like 90 days if you don't add Sta-bil. If the gas line dryer doesn't cure it and you got quite a few miles on it, Let it run almost completely out of fuel, then drain out the tank and refill with fresh gas, If you feel like going through the trouble.
