My truck took 35 seconds to start, It would turn slow and make low rpm knocks with no smoke or anything like it was starving for fuel. Then it ran like a champ. The shop says it was four liters low on oil and all the injectors are fried to the tune of $2000.
I checked the oil before it went in and is was 1/4 between the low and marks.
If it is the injectors how difficult is it for me to replace them?
I have a hard time beleaving that your injectors are bad, maybe one or two,but not all.And it didn't fry the injectors from no oil,as the 7.3 wont run with no oil.
If im wrong someone will correct me,but from what i have learned, they wont run with no oil.
It is true. When the 7.3 oil level drops to a certain point it will kill the engine and you cannot restart until the oil level is back up where it belongs. It happened to my wife. I checked the oil. It was not registering on the stick. I added a several quarts and the engine started and ran fine.

How long before an oil change should this be done in order to get all the stuff out that has been freed? How often do you use it?
I agree with everyone else here - your injectors are the last thing to suspect in this.
How much fuel is in your tank at the time that it was giving you trouble? The fuel pickups in these truck have a terrible design that will introduce too much air to the fuel if the tank is allowed to run low.

You'll have to check the directions, but IIRC it was for 3000 miles(minimum) and was safe to use for a full OCI.
there was a thread back in the spring that the sponsor posted in and gave all the details. I think his name is Chris Gabe, his user name on here is Lubrication Specialties, if you want to send him an email.
