Quetionable Engine Flush

Okay, so this is pretty interesting, and amazingly stupid at the same time. So, yesterday a buddy of mine comes over in his car and it's burning over pretty badly, so I decide to add a qt. Well, my father is notorious for keeping gasoline inside oil containers, to include at this particular time my nose is stuffed up and I can't smell the odor of the gasoline inside the qt of oil. You can only guess what happens next... Well, luckily I only poured in a few ounces of the gas into the crank case on his escort. Well, once I realized what I'd done we immediately changed the oil. All is well now. Okay... so here's my idea. I'm sure we've all at some point used the enfamous "engine flush" to clear out the gunk that gets built up in our engines. Well, I noticed when I was draining his oil, it was as black as night. ...I'm begining to wonder wether or not you can use a few ounces of gas to "flush" your engine prior to an oil change? What makes me curious is how bad the gasoline will act as a solvent against the inside of the engine to the oil passages. Anybody got any ideas on this?

I'd be more worried about the gas thinning out the oil and not providing enough lubrication. You could end up scoring the crank or trashing the bearings.

That's what I was thinking... but if the engine only runs for a few seconds after the gasoline enters the crank case (less than 10 seconds), do you think It'd have the corrosiveness to create that much damage?

I'll run about a Qt of kerosene/diesel, for a couple of min on the first oil change on a it's new to me car/truck. makes for a good flush, and I've never had any problems from it

I have been very pleased with Mobil Clean High Mileage oil. It has 12% more detergents and gradually cleans to reduce the chance of something getting plugged up. However the first change will look aweful.

That motor flush you buy is just kerosene!! Wd40 is also 80% kerosene that is why no where on the can does it say Lubricant, Do not use as a lube you will wash out the lube that is there already then eventually the kero will evaporate and leave you totally dry!! There are better sprays to do the jobs people use wd for, I say throw it away or use it to kill wasps!! B4hntn use diesel rated oil it has higher detergent and it has zinc in it to protect the motor in extreme situations, You'll probably save some money too.
