i am going to make my own pop tester to test my injectors. i have read several threads about this subject already but i have some questions. i am thinking of using a standard grease gun do yous think it will work. this one http://tractorsupply.com/detail.asp?...roductID=27408 says its good up to 10,000 psi and if the injectors pop and 2500 i should be okay right?
I would take them to a diesel garage to get them tested so you know the actual opening pressure. You could also check around at a rental shop to see if you could rent one if you have alot to check. A garage shouldn't charge that much.
Check out what KJLYPW did and copy that. I made one from a grease gun. Creates plenty of pressure but won't hold the pressure to test for leaks and it leaks like a sob. Its in the garbage can now. Going to make one like hes got.
Hello sampatton. I use one made from a Porta power. There are a couple of things to keep in mind which ever pump device you choose to use. First is the pressure gauge, it should be oil filled and scaled at about 50% larger than your pop off pressure...(example, 2000 PSI pop off = 3000 PSI gauge.)
I highly recommend this method when testing your injectors for optimum performance. Pressurize the injector above pop speck and just stop,,,,allow the injector to bleed down, where it stops bleeding down at is your "true pop off pressure" ......If it does not stop bleeding down and hold that pressure for several minutes at the pressure you want, the injector is not clean or needs to be replaced on the spot....no exceptions.... and get all of the injectors as "humanly possible" as close to each other as possible......
