I'm trying to find a 4 inch drop kit for my 73 f100 i have a magazine from 1996 that shows one made by CJM i looked online and couldn't find one. Does anyone know where i might be able to find lowering kits for 73-9 fords?
Go to www.djmsuspension.com. they don't make a 4" kit (I don't know anyone that does), but their 3" kits are very good quality and fairly straight-forward to install. This is what I have installed on my truck. I got mine through Summit for about $550 for the front, and about $50 for the rear 5" flip kit. Also figure on a little cost for shorter rear shocks and some machine work to have the front spindles honed for new king pins (I think my local machine shop charged like $30 for this).
AIM industries also makes a 3" kit that looks like the factory I-beam, but it is made up of flat plates made to look like an I-beam as opposed to the factory forged pieces. I have heard that they like to flex as a result of the welded construction.
Another alternative is the IFS kit, it will give you quite a bit more drop, the downside is the time and money to do it this way. I have installed it on my 79 F100 and I got approx 6-9", all the weight in not on the front end since it is still being assembled but it does look good. Finally got rid of those evil twins "I-beams" once and for all!
I know of 2 companies that offer these, Fatman fabrication of North Carolina and Streetrod engineering of Arizona. Or make your own, however you will have to do all the engineering yourself.
Djm or Chassis Tech offer a dropped I-beam.
I've had good luck with my chassis tech's, other than the included grease caps that wouldn't screw in(hence why one dissapeared somewhere). I need to get some new ones, but don't know where to get them
