In the morn'n when I start my 02 Escape the battery light stays on for about 3 minutes or 2 miles. Then it goes out and does not come on again unless the vehicle sits about 4 hours. I have had the battery, Alternator and starter check and they are good. Looked for bad or loose wires and NONE!
Any one had this problem?
I saw a post in the 99-03 SD that someone had a "like" problem but no cure yet!
The problem with my moms escape is the coolant light (almost looks like a battery). So tomorrow im going to get some Anti-freeze and top it off.
Hey rod are you sure your not looking at the coolant light and not the battery light? Alot of people get them confused, lol, the battery light should be on the tach.
I agree with Bobby.
Check the coolant. When the engine warms up, the coolant expands enough to raise the level in the overflow tank. That turns off the low coolant light. I had the same problem. Look for the charging light with the key on and the engine off. I'll bet that light goes off as soon as the engine is started.
Let us know.

Problem solved! The plug on the alternator had a small amount of corrosion. I guess when it warmed up the light went out. A small amount of di-electric grease fixed it!
