i have a 95 ranger2.3 it bucks and backfires under moderate throtle went to parts store and they sayed code for cam sensor is showing but whent to ford dealer to find said part under the hood the mec says i dont have one (what) so how do i know if i have it and where would i look
sorry i dont have a wiring diagrahm for this truck and haynes gives me optional sensor for camshaft but the code is dtc p0340 sensor a bank 1 circut malfunction hope this makes sence
Some 95 Ford engines used a crank sensor to time spark & fuel & some engines use a crank sensor to time spark AND a cam sensor to time fuel.
The dealer tech sez yours does'nt have a CAM sensor, so it looks like that PO340 (CAM sensor circuit open) is bogus.
Best bet is to get the codes pulled again.
If you dont like feeling helpless everytime you have a simple electrical -or ignition- problem, take a look at the 95 Ranger "electrical & vacuum troubleshooting manual" at helminc.com
This is the best 30 bucks you will ever spend on a manual for your Ranger.
If you had this manual, it would have taken you a couple of seconds to see which ignition setup yours has.
