Does anyone know where to buy entire beds sides for a long bed? Mine are absolutely shot and I'll need to replace the entire side. I know LMC makes them, but I've heard horror stories on the quality and fit, plus, I'd much rather support and FTE vendor. I do know that there is a place in Iowa that has entire beds for sale, they aren't cheap, but that could be an option if nothing else turns up. Thanks for any and all help!
I used a left side bed side from LMC in 2001. I fit pretty well, the only true problem was the taillight opening was on the narrow side so it took some finese to get a lens to fit in there, but other than that it was great.
Still holding up excellent late in 2007 with Colorado's mag-chloride and sand.
You could use a donor bed off of another truck. You get the factory quality that way. Not all of them have rusted to bits and with a little bit of body work and minor rust repair...could be restored to like-new condition. And, of course, it's a lot easier to restore a bed assembly when it's not sitting on the truck.
And unless you're real picky about looks, you may even want to look into using a good bed assembly from 1980 or later. Don't go with a bed from 1972 or before...the body lines won't match up at all.
