So, to take out the color filters, do you have to take apart the gauge cluster or what?

Yes. There are I think 4 screws on the backside of the cluster. Remove those screws and the cluster will be apart and you can remove the filters.

what size bulb is the one for the shifting indicator on the column? 1978 C6 trans if that makes any diff. How many light the speedo any ways? 2? If so ill just buy those 2 and 1 for the shift light.

From what I've been told the shift indicator is a 1445 bulb(still trying to find a blue led for mine lol) and there are only 2 194 bulbs that illuminate the gauges. The other bulbs are for the turn signals and high beam.

Yes it would, but use a semi gloss type paint, simular to the original plastic, and one that is not conductive when dry.

i bought some regular 194 bulbs except green and removed the blue filters. it made a heck of a diference.
How do you get the light bulb out from behind the shifting thing.

I think it depend on what kind of column. My 77 ya gotta pull the steering wheel off to get to it but I think there's some where tou just remove a cover or something to gain access to that bulb
