Last night I was driving home from work. 800 mile trip from West Texas. I had a car pass me at high speed so I jumped in behind it. I was driving between 75 and 90 for about 60 miles when my truck lost power. It wouldnt accelerate. I was able to maintain about 60 mph. (No where to pull off) After about 10 min. it started acting like it's old self again. Did driving the high speed cause this?
2004 srw F350 stock no mods.
Does the computer defuel the truck. The temp gauge stayed where it normaly runs. No sign of puking. Like I stated above after about 10 min of slow driving power came back. 1/2 tank of fuel so I know it wasnt because of low fuel.
weird.. it must have gone into some sort of "limp" mode ??
with no mods, there's no reason it should have gotten hot enough to screw anything up or set a code ??
have you checked for codes at all ?? some codes dont set off the CEL.
I don't have any way except the dealer to check for codes. I'm saving up so I can put gauge and sct in it. I didn't want the sct without the gauges. I guess I need to slow down untill I get the gauges so I can see whats going on.
Is your vehicle still under warranty? If so take it in and let them check it.. Worse thing you can do is wait to throw an SCT in and run it with something wrong.. SCT will scan codes but it won't read off what Ford can see in their Diag progs.. I'm not sure but it sounds almost 99% you went into Limp mode.. Limp mode isn't activated unless theres a situation such as injector failure, pressure drop, notice in oil pressure readout, sensor malfunction etc..
So get it in if you have warranty.. Let them see whats going on..
Will there be a code stored for them to read? Yes it is under warrenty. Ill take it in and let them look at it. When it first did it I thought it blew a turbo hose. There wasn't anywhere to pull over. Dumb a$$ me forgot my flash light. That won't happen again.
I do have the egr unpluged. That is the only mod.
On the Oasis right before I bought the truck it had an egr valve, egr cooler and oil cooler put on it. It has had a few recalls a couple egr valves and a driverside hub assembly. That is about as clean of an Oasis as I have seen.

Sounds like a wiring harness issue to me. I didn't know my 04 had a limp mode. It has a default mode if you unplug the EGR but you just don't get as much boost. Did you notice excess smoke? I'm also thinking turbo veins/lack of boost possibly. When is the last time you changed your fuel filter?
April/2005 recall on transmission planetary completed, replaced TCC solenoid and transmission filter.
June/2005 found transmission PCA solenoid sticking, cleaned. EGR replaced
Nov/2006 EGR replaced. Replaced left front hub and bearing. FICM wiring harness repair per recall. Recall 05E15 Exhaust pressure sensor update
April/2007 exhaust leak checked. Replaced oil and EGr coolers at 53,964 miles
Truck has all recall and updates to programming current per TSB's
this is th oasis I received. Do I need to replug the egr? It will go to the dealer this week. This only happened once. I want to find out what is going on because I average 3000 miles a month.
Nah don't unplug the EGR.. Just take it in.. It's not a wiring harness.. You got the upgraded harness that fixes it.. Possible turbo vanes might have got stuck.. but thats not something I heard happen once and never again.. Normally it's back to back over a bit of time.. Dunno, best to let ford check it since you avg 3k a month..
Sounds lke you may have pushed it over the "overboost limit" and ended up with a defueling condition until it could settle (cool) down a bit. Once the system was sure it was back within limits, it released itself for normal ops.
Did the Check Engine light come on during that time?

Just a guess??
i agree with that, when i run my truck up as fast as it will go and then it cuts out after that i can't even use cruise control or anything at all for a few minutes, then it all comes back
I still haven't found out yet if I have a chip or a flash into my PCM, but I know that something there because when I hit 100 mph, the speedo flips back over to zero while the truck just keeps accelerating. Based on my tach, I've maxed it out at about 113-115 going uphil, which was when the CES light came on and I could go no further. Once I fell back to 100 mph again, ,the speedo flipped back around adn started reading again. It took about 10 miles for the CES light to go back off.
Well I took it in today and they found no codes. I actualy drove around 100 miles at high speed. I know that I shouldnt have but I was ready to get home to the wife.
I thought that it was acceptable to unplug the egr.
I may have hit the speed limiter. I could maintain a speed of about 60 mph. After about 5 miles it resumed power. Maybe it won't happen again. I'll refrain from driving that fast for that long.
