Target corp. has announced that to prevent a lawsuit, it is switching it's web page to include a Braille page for the vision impaired.
how the vision impaired will feel the Braille web page is not important, just the fact that Target corp. recognizes they did the vision impaired people of the world wrong is enough for now, stated a spokesperson for the A.C.L.U., who spoke on the conditions of anonymity.
"but we will be going after computer monitor manufacturers in the very near future to make the monitors Braille compatible for the vision impaired" said the spokesperson.
No offense to you Cali guys... great wheeling from what I hear... but your state sucks @$$ on the firearm, civil liberties, certain parts of wheeling (CARB), lawsuits, pollution and about... 20 other things...
My previous post was a little harsh but you guys (and gals) need to do something about the sheer stupidity of lawsuits there. I know they're bad everywhere but... COME ON!!!
Geez, thats pathetic. As truly horrible that being blind would be, how can you descriminate against them by having a website inacessable to the blind? I guess we should just ban the internet because blind people cant use it, or at least sue every single website that exists because they are descriminatory. Apperantly somebody wants to get rich quick.

Wellllllll.........How difficult would it be to add sound to the necessary items? I am no computer expert, and have not a clue what would be involved. I know other things that require eyesight are on audio tape. Could this be done by computer. I understand the book taping is done mostly by volunteers. Feasable????? jd
I always wondered why drive through ATM's have braille on the keyboards.
A lot of vehicles have back seats where the windows roll down, also a lot of people walk up to drive through atms. I have to because my truck is too tall and I can't reach.
As far as this specific lawsuit it is rediculous. I was under the impression that most blind people that used computers either had a program that read the text off the screen to them verbally, or had a keyboard with a braille section that could change line by line to reproduce the text. I guess if there is something specific about Target's website that renders both of those items useless, Target should try to remedy the situation, but a lawsuit over it is crazy.
