I left work tonight and was headed up the interstate, air bag light came on and dash light, parking lights and tail lights went out. Blinkers still work and no blown fuses. The only thing i can think of is the switch went bad. Anyone else had this happen or have any ideas? Thanks, Frogg
Any one Please. I took it apart this morning and jumped out the switch, the lights came on but the airbag light stayed on. So i went to the junkyard and got another switch, same thing no dash lights, tail lights, or parking lights. I also went to advance and got them to pull the codes, to maybe see if the airbag light showed anythimg, no codes. Im lost here any advice or ideas?
Yo Frogg, I posted this in the Fog Lights thread for you yesterday.....
Yo Frogg,
Check the #17 fuse for continuity, as well as all the fuses for interior & exterior lights, #35 & #41 for the dash. After someone broke into the truck and ripped off my stereo, I faced the same issue. Here's that thread link....
If it's not a fuse, it's the switch. Lighting just doesn't work one minute, "go out" the next. The electrical systems in these trucks are as stout as I've seen.
I found the problem with the dash lights running lights, and tail lights. It was the #6 fuse under the hood. Dont know why, the manual said that was the shift on fly fuse. but it fixed my lights. I aslo found a blown 30amp fuse (big fuse #17 i think) I replaced it and didnt notice any diff. My air bag light is still on, any ideas?
remember only ford scaner, or good Snap on scaner can read PSD codes, so you better get to a good shop and have them scan the codes, Light is on , there is a code, or see if anyone here on FTE is close to you that has AE and can scan it for you

30amp for a stock lighting circuit seems way to high, most are 15amp. I'd go through the manual and make sure the right fuses are in the right places. The #17 fuse is a mini fuse in the second vertical row from the left. As previously stated, a good code scanner will solve the air bag light issue.
it was the 30 amp fuse under the hood. Whatever caused it was something I did removing the dash when i painted it. For whatever reason it went off today. I must have caused a short or something when removing it. But tahnks for chiming in and helping me!
