I currently own a 2001 F-250 No mods 4x4 Crew Cab short bed so heres the thing, today on my way home I was at a stop light in idle and my check engine light came on then I lost all horse power upon take off. It idled very rough and would not go over 40mph. Shifted fine but, I noticed my turbo didnt kick on. So at Auto Zone I had them hook up the diagnostic machine and funny thing no codes came back it stated that it passed! So I changed the Fuel filtter and air fillter and still nothing changed.... Went ahead and drove it the rest of the way home at about 25mph with a distance of 30 miles until home. I really could use some advice as this is my only transportation and if I cant fix it my Wife will make me walk!
Thanks,
Will
Is it possible that auto Zone didnt have the right diagnostic machine for a diesl truck. While wating there I glanced at a book and it said that diesls do requrie certin diagnostic machines.. Just a thought!
code readers at autozone and stores like it cant read the codes on our trucks. you'll have to find someone with a reader that can or bite the bullet and take it to the dealer.
Light never went off its still on and my truck still runs like crap!
Do you know of any places besides a dealer that would have the right code machine?
Im not sure I had the rpms high enough for the turbo to kick on. It idles as if its going to die.
Grrrr.. This sucks @#$!
the turbo and rubber boots and the rest of the pipes look ok cant see any damage would it be ok start the truck and see if the turbo is coming on. last night i could not remember if the turbo came on but im not for sure
Did you hear a loud pop before it started doing this? If so, boot popped off somewhere. Pull on each connection to make sure. If ok, I'd think UVC harness.
