I have looked everywhere for a 5" turbo back exhaust for a 2000 2wd X 7.3 and have found nothing but a 4"..
does anybody make one or will i have to piece one together?
is it a fitment issue? maybe at the downpipe?
can i buy a 4" downpipe, attach a reducer (4" to 5") , and run a 5" exhaust the rest of the way back? i want to put a 5" to 6" tip on..I know you can buy a 4" to 6" tip but i don't like the way they look..
I hope someone knows the answer,
Rodio

If you dont get any answers, you might want to post this in the 7.3l forum. I know it doesnt matter what kind of tip that you have because it wont affect the back pressure or the sound of the exhaust. But the thing is i dont know if diesels like back pressure or not. If you were to put a 4 or 5 inch exhaust on a v-10 it would hate all of that back pressure.
Not for the Excursions. The problem is the muffler area. Otherwise everything else is the same. You puchase the 5" for an F250 and get creative with the muffler to make it fit under the cab.
5" has no advantage unless you are just going for size...
I only want the 5" exhaust because i think it will sound pretty good..I already run a straight pipe so i really don't care about a muffler i just want to be able to say i have one...
I know its very superficial and shallow ....but i am o.k. with that....
" stupid is as stupid does "
is the issue about another "bend" at the muffler area ?
would a 7.3 CC long bed 5" straight pipe exhaust be too short or about the same length? or if i was to buy the this exhaust do you think thier is enought material to make it to the rear of my X or should i also buy an extra 5" muffler delete?
If you were to buy a 5" and if your Ex thinks size matters!
Then yes a full 5" exhaust like an MBRP will have everything you need to install. I have not done a 5" on an Excursion. But I am sure you can make fit.
I'm looking for it now, there is a writeup on one of the boards with somebody who had done it, I think it was a greenish truck, not that that matters, but it went it fairly simply with only a couple mods
