What tire size

HI everyone I have a 99 f-250SD 4x4 auto all stock with 3.73 gears and 285/75/16 tires this is the way the truck was set up when I got it, I think it should tow better than it does. I dont want to change the gears at this time what the best tire size I should run.

the stock size will be best- which is the 235s

i have a 01 v10 with the 235s and it tows very well.

however im looking into getting 285s-305s for looks, and mud traction

As rg200amp mentioned, 235/85/16 is the stock size. You could install 265/75/16 which are just a bit wider than the 235's. Neither will look as good as the 285's since both are slightly shorter and narrower, but will probably wear better...
