Welcome aboard, all kinds of good info for the askin and taking,
I am pretty sure they are numbered, as you stand in front looking at the engine, #1 starts on the left bank and they go #1,2,3,4, right bank 5,6,7,8 like this
4 8
3 7
2 6
1 5
Radiator
But also check the engine forums~

The #1 spark plug wire attaches to the cap plug tower that is directly above the distributor rotor with the engine TDC after the compression stroke. The distributor base rotates 20-40 degrees to allow for fine tuning of the ignition timing. The way I set my timing is to rotate the engine with the #1 spark plug removed and my finger over the hole while feeling for pressure. The second I start to feel pressure I look at the timing marks on the balancer and then continue rotate the engine until the pointer is on 10 degrees. Install the spark plug and wire, connect the timing light and fire it up. It might be a little more involved than that for your engine though.
