From everything I have seen, they are identical except for rear spring length. The 53-54 springs 48" eye-to-eye. The 56 springs are 52". The 56 rear spring hanger is moved aft to accomodate.

I agree with RJ. That's what my info shows. George has a sketch with dimensions on "Earl's World". I would guess it's for a '56 since that is what Earl is. Maybe one of the guys with a 53/54 manual can scan the same chart to compare.
