Need advice.

I am new here, I don't currently own a Ford, but might by tomorrow.

I am going to drop a bid on a 1991 E 150 with the I6 300 in it. If the gentleman accepts it. I intend to A. pull the motor, C6 tranny, and 8.8 out of it and put it in my old 52 IH 1/2 ton long bed pickup, so that I can use it to pull my camper, instead of having to use my off-road vehicle for that OR B. Install the body of the pickup on to the frame of the E 150.

I read on here that the I6 is a good motor, and lots of friends back that info up. However it seemed that this E 150 Cargo Van had a hard time getting up to 70 Mph empty today when I drove it on the highway, also the temp guage never left cold even though we drove about 5 miles on a warm day(probably a bad sending unit or guage) and the Oil Pressure was in the lower 1/4 of the tolerances section of the pressure guage.

Now to the question: Is this concerning? or normal? If the low Oil Pressure is a concern, what does it normally take to bring the oil pressure up? I spoke with a few friends and they mentioned cam bearings, and a few other things that slip my mind now. There is also a little bit of lifter ticking going on, but someone told me this is normal also. One person mentioned that the oil pressure was normal for these engines, and another said that the low oil was likely what caused the lifters to tick.

I am just trying to gather as much info as possible before I bring home someting that could be more of a nuisance than a benefit.
