Hello I am after some advice, I am in possession of a 352 bb
with the block casting of C7ME-A
connecting rods 1 cast with C6AE-C
5 cast with C7AE-B
2 cast with C7AE-C
cylinder heads cast with C8AE-H
exhaust manifolds cast with C6OE 430 and C7OE 543( these castings are hard to read and may be wrong)
My question is this, Do any of these castings make this engine anything special, or is it just a average 360/390 bb.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance
You definitely don't have a 352 or 360 because the rod castings are for the short rod. You could possibly have a standard 428 but more than likely you have a 390. There is nothing special about the heads. They can be made to flow pretty well by using the 1.65 exhaust valves. Check the casting on your crankshaft. We can tell better by that.
On the exhaust manifolds, the numbers may really be C6OE-9430A and C7OE-9431A. If they are, this is the set that was used on the 390 in the ’67 – ’68 Mustang, Cougar, Fairlane and Comet up to 2/15/68. While you’re looking for numbers, how about the intake manifold and distributor. On your rods, do they all have nuts and are the nuts all the same size?
