axle storage

axle storage

I have 4 spare axles setting around and need some way to store them safely out of the way.

any ideas would help?

can they be stood on end?

I built a tree for mine....kinda like an A frame with upward angle pegs to hold the axles in place. Problem is it usually takes 2 people to lift them off. I'd take a pic, but it's too dark outside right now.

if it was long term storage id fill them completly full of cheap oil that way nothin can rust in there

I was thinking about the same thing. i would like to see pics please. at you convince.

What we did at school was just like has been said, and A frame with pegs sticking out. we used the over head lift to move them though. Just makes sure its welded together good, lots of weight on it.

sorry no pics yet....been raining and got home from work late. I used 3"x3" x 3/8" wall angle iron with 2"x2" x 1/4" wall pegs.

Nice storage, though I'd face the hole down on the top housing so it doesn't catch rain.

it's angled down just enough from vertical to prevent much water entry. But blowing snow will take care of that, lol.

Nice bed frame!! I always joked with my buddy he made a ladder rack out of angle iron for the top of his van, I said man it must be a rude awakening sleeping up there and tossing, turning and ending up on the ground!! That's kind of like the weight bar rack at the gym. The 9"on the top is for girly men yahhh!!
