Cool AARRGGGHHHHH!!!!!! hard brake lines!!!!!

i was swapping out the front brake hoses on my dd today, an 86 chrysler 5th ave. got the right side done and then went to the drivers side. AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!! the nut connecting the hard line to the hose wouldnt budge, i tried heat, pb blaster, finally it started to turn and suddenly just twisted the hard line right in half. darn it i could just flip. i needed to have box car willie working so i could put my truck down for the body swap. now i have to scramble looking for a replacement or make a new one. this week is gonna suck. the line is only 8-10 inches long from the frame to the prop valve. you talk about putting you in a foul mood. anybody know a source for prebent hard lines. Dan

Brakes, we don't need no stinking brakes...

Whatever you run into will probably stop you...That's how I roll.

What I have done in the past was, connect the top to the caliper, and use a torch with mapp gas. Then just heat and bend.

OH yeah, USE GLOVES

Pull the old line out, carefully bend a new line to similar curves, cut, flair, install. I used to do this all the time, getting ready to do this one three different vehicles very soon.

A few places like napa have hard lines in various lengths with the ends already on. I've done this and it worked pretty well. Get a tubing bender and try to match the bends. (Buy a couple of lines if you haven't done this before -- or if you're like me!)

You can get a flaring tool and put the ends on yourself. However, it's not something that you want to screw up. From what I've read, you need a good tool -- and you need to be careful about the details. If you can get an assembled line close to the right length, I'd go that way.

BTW, when I called a dealer about this once, he said that for older vehicles they only sell bulk tube and ends. I don't know about newer stuff.

I was going to suggest http://www.classictube.com/ but I don't see anything at all for an '86 Chrysler.
