I am about to replace the steering column in my 94 3.0 XLT Extended van. Would anybody have the pinouts of the electrical connectors on the column? My idea is to check the components (ignition switch, clock spring, and turn signal switch) before I install the unit and replace any of the aforementioned parts without firing the airbag before installing the donor column.
Talk about luck! I had a friend in California locate the part and ship it to me after not finding one within 200 miles of here, and my original door key will also work the ignition on the new one!
You don't need the pinout for anything. Just disconnect the battery for a couple of hours and you can do it without worrying about the airbag.
I would suggest that you replace only the part inside the van, and not worry about the coupler that was bolted to the firewall or anything else past that point.
Also, label all the connectors as you pull them off the old column with the same number on the old and new columns. You would also need a T27 Torx bit to remove the panel and the support braces under the column. A whole set can be bought at Kragen or any part store for under $10.
There are only about 4 connectors, and they are all vastly different, so I am not worried about mixing them up. I would be interested in knowing if I need to replace the signal control or the clockspring, mostly because I think it would be easier on my workbench than in the car.
The air bag is something I don't care to test. . .accidentally OR on purpose. The one in the van now is air bag #3. The first two fired on me while I was parked; one of those was with the keys in my pocket. Oh, well, if I need a signal block or air bag, I can use the existing ones. And I have a clock spring new in the box if I need it. Only trouble there is that is must be a universal fit item, because it has more wires and connectors than the one on the donor column.
Howdy to all. I'm looking for connector assigment of ignition switch and multyfunctional switch too. wANNA install newer swithces, but connectors differ.

Hey, Pablo!
If I dont get anything on this sooner, I'll try to decipher the pinout after I make the changeover.
