I have got to go and pick up a fridge that I bought. I have to haul it about 40 miles. It is going to be hard to secure it upright and it ride good on these curvy roads. Can you haul a fridge on its side and not mess it up? I have heard that you can as long as you let it sit upright for a little while before you plug it back up. Any ideas?
Yes just don't plug it in for awhile. 24hrs is overkill. 6 hrs will be good enough, you just want the oil to drain back down, which is pretty light weight oil.
Like everybody else said, just let it sit upright for a while. If you don't the compressor will freeze up on you and you'll have to let it thaw out. But if it was me I would try my best to keep it upright.
As a former Refer Tech. You can haul it anyway you can. Upright is preferred. But just let it set upright for 12+ hours so the oil all drains back into the compressor. I've hauled many laying down.
My Dad worked on them for years and told people to let them set overnight. Measing that most people get to the destination in the late afternoon or evening and then give it 10-12 hrs!
Nah, 2 hours is fine. I hauled my beer fridge on it's side, and put it in my garage. Let it stand 2 hours, and plugged it in. I trust it with my beer, so it's good.
But I had the full intention of sitting it 24 hours when I first got it. I just kind of blanked, and saw the plug sitting there, and went for it. When I realized what I had done, I figured "Well, it's a hundred dollar fridge from Craigslist. If it crashes, I'll just get another one".
