I have a 2005 F-150 scab 4x4. i have cold air intake, dual exhaust, programmer and a leveling kit. My question is what size tire would be better 33" or 35" and would I have to regear? If I had to regear what gears should I go to? Thanks for your help and keep wheeling.
Hey, I have a 05 150 w/ 5.4 and 3.73 rear end. It has six inch lift on it with 35' tires. they are the biggest tires i could fit under the truck without doin any major trimming. so if you only put a leveling kit on the truck i would not go over 33's. I also did not re-gear and the truck does fine, lil worse mpg but nothing worth complaining about.
The truck doesn't seem more sluggish? Like not enough to even think about regearing it? I'd love to do the 6" with 35, or just try to get 35s under it and I was worried about the cost of regearing it! Do you have any other mods that may creat more power like a tuner or anything? Thanks!
the truck is a lil less peppy than it was before lifting it, but not bad enough for me to spend the money to re-gear. Outside of the lift everything is still factory. When i first put the tires on I noticed a drop in power but over time the computer reprograms itself and most of the power was restored.
Deffinately do not waste the money on 4.10's if you have 3.73's stock. It will be barely noticeable. If you go 33's, you'll be fine with stock gearing. If you go 35's, you'll notice a little decrease in pep but as jllang said it won't be too bad. If you spend the money to regear go to at least 4.30's.

How are you only fitting 35s with 6 inches of lift, are they wide? 35s fit on my 05 150 screw with the 2 inch leveling kit with only very minor trimming to the plastic. I went back to a smaller tire though, better for towing, heavier load range and more power. 265/65/18 bfgs. I think they are about 31-32inch. Agree with renaud go at least 4.30 if running 35s. Or keep the gears and put the money towards a supercharger! Because If someone else does the gear swap, parts and labour are pricey. I personally would rather have the supercharger (soon I will).
