Advice needed on mods

Hello All,
I'm new here and hope I am posting this in the right place. Own a '05, 6 litre that I bought new. Friend has the same truck and has changed his exhaust to a 4" (from the turbo back, no cat), the intake to a stage 2 AFE and is using a Bully performance device. He is trying to talk me into making the same changes. Have to admit that his truck goes real good. He wants to load some new program into my truck so I can feel the difference but I am reluctant since I don't want to void my warantee. How good an idea is this? Claims that he can change it back to stock and Ford will never know. Is this true? Also claims the exhaust and intake give him 2 mpg. Possible? No cat has to be against the law and a bad idea. He showed me the AFE air filter. Asked me to blow through the blue stock filter element. Seemed like a significant restriction. Does the AFE intake make sense? Honestly, I'm not sure why I would do these changes. Truck works so good as it is. Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The AFE intake makes no sense for your purposes, that stock one is more efficient at removing dirt and can flow all the air you need.

It sounds like you are very happy with your truck the way it is, my advice would be to leave it that way.

leave it if you have any doubts at all... it's not worth it to have something go wrong and for some reason they won't cover a broken windshield wiper because you installed an aftermarket air filter lol

Only Mod I could see in your position would be some pyrometers to monitor exhaust temp & transmission temp if you have the automatic transmission and those won't void your warranty. Exhaust temp should be a must so you know when it is safe to shut down after a high speed run or you've been towing. Kind of a reminder to protect your turbo form damage. If you shutdown to soon it can boil the oil off and leave a residue behind and damage the seals, if hot enough can warp things. This way you know when it is safe.

Skip the intake and get your self a muffler delete pipe. Then call Matt from Spartan and get and SCT, and guages. I plan giving Matt a call in the spring after hunting season.

Exhaust does nothing for mpg. It sounds great and lowers egt's. Intakes do give you better mpg and it sounds good at idle, but some dealerships dont take a liking to seeing them under the hood and they dont filter as well. The stock intake flows enough air to support up to 500rwhp and filters everything. As for the tuning, i have seen the 24hr bully dog demo and have stayed clear of it. If done right and not dogged day in and day out, a tuned motor will be fine. If you do decide to tune, DO NOT GO THE EDGE, BULLYDOG OR BANKS ROUTE! You can spend a week on here reading the horror stories they do to these motors and trannies. SCT custom tuning from any of the vendors on this site is the only way to go for these trucks and most of the people on here will tell you the same. Gauges are a must for a tuned truck

yeah i would agree that SCT is the way to go with a 6.0 BUT i would first ask your dealer on their stance with tuners...
