Its just one more thing to go bad .

actually since the MSD would basically take the place of the stock ignition system.....it wouldn't be one more gremlin in your electrical system...might even eliminate a few......I was just thinkin...man I ain't seen Mike on in awhile...it is your money so do what you please...I'm interested in trying the Livewires by DUI...supposedly you open your plugs up to .060 gapping.....

Uhhh, the MSD ignition system does not REPLACE anything. It just gets added into the existing system...unless you are thinking of the distributor, coil and wires that MSD offers...but those arn't even MSD ignition systems by definition, those are just replacements for stock parts. The MSD would be the 6a, 6al etc. + all the various add ons for them and all those get stacked on to the stock system.

This is something you need to decide on your own. To some people it is worth it and to others it is not...it's all relative. To me it is worth it.

I haven't had very good luck w/ the Bosch's(see pics in my gallery). I went back to motorcraft. I also like Victor wires. I too went with the MSD Blaster, cap & rotor. IMO the coil made the biggest difference.

I had problems w/ my 6a on my SD system but it's worked fine since I converted to MAF.

What problem did you have with the SD and the box? Says it should work fine.

I need every bit of help I can get when it comes to passing emissions so the better the burn the better off I am.

Back when I was selling parts at Checker, we had a training day where all the "performance" company reps (MSD, Holley, Edelbrock, ect.) came in to teach us about thier products They had a "performance center" in our store, and none (well not many) of us could afford ALL of that stuff (at $8.15hr), so we didn't know much about everything to sell it.
The MSD rep. told us that if you don't have anything else "performance" on your vehicle, then an MSD is a waist of money. On a stock engine, the factory has already engineered the ignition system for the engine. However if you start to upgrade from stock, with exhaust, better intake, bigger cam, ect; THEN you need (or will benefit from) a better ignition.
Perhaps this is the reason "some people can't tell a difference"''.

Since you have said you have an exhaust on your truck, you will probably notice a difference. I would say go for it!!!(after all, it's not my money)

I had a problem with a very eratic and random idle, as well as cutting out while driving and accelerating. The idle would surge to 1500 then drop to nearly zero and sometimes die. I disconnected it and it ran like before, which was basically like a gutless dog due to the old SD EFI. I tried reconnecting it on a couple of occasions and the symptoms would return within 10 miles of driving it. I'd disconnect it and it would run "normally" again.

A few months after converting it to MAF I decided to give it a try and it worked fine. I can't say I got any HP gain but it definately runs smoother and adds a bit more throttle respose in addition to the response the MAF added (which was zero before).

Well i am considering a cam upgrade also, so by the sounds of the msd tech, it would help my truck. Alright, so the 6a ignition box, the coil, should i go with the whole msd set up? Ive got a set of underdrive pulleys ordered already. So waitin for them to get here to throw em on!

I just ordered my msd system on Monday.Hope it is here be Friday.I am looking for a little more power,a little better gas mileage out of the msd. After reading some of these posts I don't know what to expect. I have to put in a new patio door on our house before I put the msd in my truck.Going to do that on Saturday.
