Transmission codes?

Just had one hell of a time figuring out my 97 f150 4.6 trucks shifting problem. Turned out to be the 'range selector' which I replaced today.
Well, now it shifts fine.... but my engine light came on. So I went and checked. There were four codes....
trans sensor voltage to high
trans sensor voltage to low
trans sensor voltage to high
trans sensor voltage to low
I just erased the codes thinking it had something to do with the new sensor, however as soon as I left, it came back on. I'm assuming it's another one of those codes. I didn't go back and check again.
If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate some advice.

Was the part you replaced it with the same part, manufacturer? Sound like the computer is getting readings back that are out of it's specified range.

Well, don't make an assumption. Go back and check the code so you're certain of what you have.

Reset the PCM by removing the 5A fuse in the mini-fusebox under the hood for 15 minutes. Then, allow the PCM to perfrom a re-learn and see if you still have problems.

As far as the part goes, it came from the Ford dealer. Looked the same, however the plug was towards the back rather than on the top. It also had a conversion kit that came with it, incase the plugs were not the same. But after removing the old one, I saw the plugs were the same so ignored the conversion kit.
The other problem is that now the truck won't start in Park. Has to be in neutral. I'm pretty confident in the adjustment of the linkage but I guess that could still be it.
The funny ( or not so funny ) thing is, I went online with Advance Auto Parts to look for a neutral safety switch and the part that I saw was the exact same thing as the Range Selector that I got from Ford...(for 100$) but this one was 35$.
I'm going to try to readjust the linkage I guess. What really has me at a loss though is the codes. I'll pull my fuse and let it re program and see.
Thanks for the help though. I never knew how difficult it could get dealing with a mid year truck.

It doesn't reprogram when you pull the fuse. To reprogram you need to connect it to a dealer's system. But that's not your problem.

Your problem is that the wire locations changed from your old part to your new part. Install the conversion kit and it should work.

ok.. I'm with ya on the whole pin locations... Explains the 4 codes I have.

my only problem is that I can see via the directions where these wires are supposed to go. But there is nothing telling me where they are now.
So I guess what I need is a diagram of the existing plug pin locations. The directions do not have this listed.
There are six wires I believe and that's a whole lot of variations it could be. A test light could find a couple of them for me, but I don't know how to find the rest.
Anyone got any ideas they sure would be appreciated.
Thanks for everything guys.....
