I got a raise! A really good one too. I'm not trying to brag, but I can't tell the guys at work becasue ... well it just isn't polite because I know some of them didn't get any. So I told my Ford Family.
Anyhoo.. I was just wondering what other companies do for raises? We stand on the carpet once a year and they tell us what we got and why... or whynot. It is based most on job performance and willingness to go that extra mile. Some companies just give an annual "BEER" raise (3.2%) and that is it...
Congrats Chad. At my old job working for the city the raises were all contract deals. About all you could do to increase your pay over others was to be promoted.
Now that I am retired I get a small raise in my check the first of every year. But I am in for a big adjustment in 2012. My retirement will then be refigured and most likely I will stay close to what I have been receiving since 1997.
My job is state funded, so I'm also in the beer or less catagory. It all depends on what the legislature authorizes each year. This year they are giving us a "bonus" sometime around Dec. That way it won't figure into base salaries and won't help us catch up next year if there is a percentage raise.
Congrats man, you deserve it, we do the once a year "stand on the carpet" thing but they are pretty good with us, usually it's .50 to $2 depending on what they think of you.
I did that when I was younger. Kind of like the old bull and the young bull standing together on the hill. The young bull was looking at a cow and said to the old bull lets run down and get that cow. The old bull replied lets walk down and get them all.
Sounds like Chad could have used a bit of sippin stuff today. Hope you are felling better.
