I have a 1986 F-250 with a 6.9 na, 4X and manual transmission. I recently picked up a ATS turbo off a 1993 7 .3 (with Garett #'s) for $100.00. I got the turbo only and nothing else. The turbo seems in good condition. I have the opportunity to pick up a very good aftermarket exhaust system from the turbo by to the muffler off a 2003 7.3 for a very good price. Will these items fit my truck? Is there a source for the rest that I need without having to pay and arm and a leg for the rest of the setup? I am currently rebuilding another 6.9 ala Dave S, but not as hot.
If I read your post correctly, the powerstroke exhaust is from the turbo to the muffler.
The turbo end will not fit your turbo, but with some modding, you can probably make it work.
What type of turbo did yours come from?
As of right now there are 4 ATS kits that have been offered over the years, 085, 088 (none wastegated-no longer supported), wastegated kit (used in some OEM fords), and most recently the aurora.
The turbo I have came from 1992-93 7.3 and it is a waste gated version..Thanks
The crossover and down pipe are fairly easy to make, but the turbo pedestal and Y pipe are cast iron, and not so easy to duplicate.
The good news is that ATS should still have parts for that version of turbo kit, and the turbocharger itself is the most expencive part so it may not be too bad to get the other stuff, but will probably cost more than one bill...
