The previous owner of my '52 F1 (Rosie) was the second owner, his uncle brought it new and the truck worked in his orchard (in a very dry climate). When I first saw Rosie, I could only see parts of her as the po was using her as a shelving unit. A few months later I asked him about the truck and he still had it so we cleared a bunch of stuff out of the way and I was amazed on how little rust there was. Totally stock and nothing missing or badly broken. I brought Rosie in '94 with the idea that I wanted to do a frame up restoration. Lets just say she is resting comfortably, waiting for me to get back to work on her.

I bought mine in August of 2002. I had been looking for a 48-50 truck for several months. I knew about this one sitting under some shade trees in my neighborhood for the last five years or so but I felt it was too rough to tackle. It had a Dodge bed sitting on it, no rear fenders, running boards were shot, all the glass was broken out, and someone had shot at the cab repeatedly with a powerful air rifle leaving pock marks in the cab. The last inspection sticker in it was for 1983 and it had 1984 plates. The interior was trashed and mice had nested in the seat. To top that off it was an F-3 and at the time I didn't know the differences in the models. I had been unsuccessful in locating a better truck so I decided to go for it. The owner was asking $750 for it but I talked him down to $500. I started working on in in May of 2003 and finally got it drivable in June of 2006. I still have to have it painted but have enjoyed driving it this summer and working out the bugs. I now have about 700 miles on it.

Things turned out OK and I had an incredible time learning about these trucks and building it with help with the things that I couldn,t handle. Several years into the project I discovered FTE and things moved ahead much quicker thanks to everyones support.

I,m trying to learn how to submit before and after pics.

My 53 "Someday" followed me home just 3 weeks before the 03 Supernats. I waited till I got home from the show to start tearing it apart and have been working on it ever since. Sometimes life, bad luck and other projects get in the way, but it'll roll under it's own power again, "Someday".

I bought my '49 F-1 about two years ago. Just saw pics of it and was told it was a "driver". Drove about 700 miles to pick it up AFTER I had paid for it.
Well..... it does run but I would be scared to death to actually drive it. I am sloooowly tearing it down and hope to get into the motor this winter.

I used to have a '58 I bought back about 1979. drove that truck for 10 years before someone talked me out of it. THAT will not happen again.

I bought mine in 1978 with a flatbed on it and actually drove it on the road for a year, I was driving home one late night from fishing on Stony lake and hit two horses that had excaped from the farmers field , one rolled off each front fender. I have been working on it ever since but I am getting close to having a very nice 52, hopefully in the spring. 1978 wasn't that long ago was it?
